We All Get Lucky Sometimes :: Career :: Aug 1, 1995 :: next

Released in August of 1995, Lee Roy Parnell’s fourth card played in just five years may just be his Ace.
Co-produced by Scott Hendricks and LRP, ‘We All Get Lucky Sometimes’ was Parnell’s first of only two issues on Arista Records’ Career imprint, and ranks as one of his most compelling and cohesive works. With four out of five singles hitting the Top 20, including Craig Wiseman’s “Little Bit of You” and Parnell’s own “Heart’s Desire”, co-written with Cris Moore, ‘We All Get Lucky Sometimes’ was a bonafide hit within months of its release, insuring LRP and his signature slide guitar’s place in Country Music’s hit-market hierarchy.
But the album’s real success wasn’t manifest solely through the power of Parnell’s virtuoso work as a guitarist, his choice of material, or his growing talent as a songwriter...but by his voice.
From the first track to the closing notes, it’s clear that with this outing, Parnell has found his second instrument. Singing with a clarity and immediacy not heard in his previous releases, ‘We All Get Lucky Sometimes’ showcases a singer coming into his own, developing a style, a presence and an intimacy in his phrasings that would continue to define him as a vocalist for years to come, and underscore what hundreds of thousands of fans, listeners, reviewers and artists alike have said from the beginning:
‘Nobody sounds like Lee Roy Parnell’.
